Welcome Autumn! (try the Bacon & Broccoli Salad recipe below!)



Fall is officially here - the weather is cooling off a bit here in Houston, TX. That means the high is only around 85 degrees, which is fall weather for us. We can finally enjoy being outdoors without our undies melting. The kids and I enjoyed playing on the playset in the backyard while Court grilled up some delicious pork loins. He's excellent on the grill - whether it's chicken, pork, beef or fish, he's always able to cook it just right.



We topped off our meal with some bacon & broccoli salad, recipe from HEB. Try it for yourself - so tasty!

1 large head of fresh broccoli, stems cut off and florets lightly chopped
4 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 small red onion, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup roasted sunflower kernels
3/4 cup mayonnaise (Kraft makes a mayo with olive oil - it's healthier than regular mayo and tastes great!)
1/2 cup Canyon Foods bacon vinaigrette (I can only find this at HEB. In fact, Kroger and Wal-Mart didn't have any brand of bacon vinaigrette)

Combine ingredients, chill in the refrigerator and enjoy!
